Alex Kayser photographed these baldies, and several hundred others, for his forthcoming book, Heads (Abbeville), as, well, baldly as possible. Not from any particular obsession, just for the abstract purity of the image. Shorn, the features are exposed, often alarmingly. Cabdrivers, fashion designers; old black men, young white women—all human life is there. And, he discovered, there's even a Baldheaded Folks of America organization in Morehead City, North Carolina.
