Sugar Rautbord, the Windy City's blowiest social twister, was the first to buy a $1,000 ticket. A hairdresser bought the second ticket. The event: the Polo Ball at Marshall Field's to benefit the Field Museum ■ ■ of Natural History and the Salisbury Cathedral Spire Trust, with Prince Charles as honored guest. Neither the Rautboard Motor nor the anonymous beautician made it to the real-hot ticket: a pre-ball cocktail reception with His Royal Highness limited to thirty worthies by ball chairman Mrs. Edward Byron Smith. There the prince was greeted by a trio of buxom blondes—Bonnie Swearingen, Cristina Ford, and Carolyn Amory—and one legendary brunette in a sari, the Rajmata of Jaipur. The next day the rajmata, alongside Mayor Washington, presided over an Anglo-American polo match at the Oak Brook Polo Club in Butlerland. His Royal Highness took several spills, but neither Sugar nor the eager hairdresser was there to smooth his coif.
