The internationally renowned fashion designer Carolina Herrera, who was born and raised in Venezuela, presented her debut collection in New York City in 1981 with the encouragement of the inimitable Vogue editor Diana Vreeland. Since then she has parlayed her impeccable taste and classic elegance into runway sensations, dressing everyone from Oscar winners, dignitaries, and "It girls" to perennial members of the International Best-Dressed List. (She was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1980.) Her desk, pictured here, is located in the Carolina Herrera headquarters, in N.Y.C.
