November 2016"I'm just this southern guy who loves to entertain," says Ken Fulk. But two decades after this Virginia native arrived in San Francisco, he has become, according to Instagram C.E.O. Kevin Systrom, the "go-to creative resource" in town and beyond. Working out of a 15,000-squarefoot former S&M leather factory, Fulk and his 50 "magic-makers" design houses for Systrom and his peers, such as Sean Parker, as well as orchestrating their most special events, including Parker's lavish nuptials, in the Big Sur redwoods. (Currently, Fulk is also overhauling the venerable Mark Hopkins hotel and overseeing the interiors of a 30-story residential tower going up over Manhattan's Hudson Yards.)
Those not lucky enough to have been invited to Fulk's parties or homes can now have a peek at them in a lavish new book, Mr. Ken Fulk's Magical World (Abrams). To see images from Fulk's book, go to VF.com. —
