ROCK OF MIDDLE AGES

A suitably bejeweled crowd converged on the Met Cloisters, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's uptown-Manhattan outpost for medieval European art and architecture, for a dinner to celebrate Bulgari's newly redesigned New York flagship store, on Fifth Avenue. Guests were seated in the covered passageways surrounding the Cuxa Cloister, an open-air courtyard that also served as the stage for a performance by dancer Lil Buck. After dinner, they congregated in the 12th-century Fuentiduena Chapel, where Demi Lovato closed the night with an acoustic set.

POWER MOVES

Birds fly south; the powers that be execute geographic pivots. So it was with the fourth annual Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit, held for the first time outside of the Bay Area, in Los Angeles. Over two days in October, all manner of makers (of films, buildings, billion-dollar apps) convened at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts for a state of the union of art and commerce in the Digital Age.
