The scientific world is now in suspense as to the outcome of the experiments which will verify or disprove this theory. It has already been established that the planet Mercury doss not move according to the Newtonian laws, but in such a way as to corroborate Einstein's theory; and observations based on the eclipse of 1919 seemed further to justify it. The results of the calculations based on the eclipse of last September have not yet been made public, and the third cardinal experiment, which has to do with the spectrum of certain elements in the sun. is still in doubt; but if these conclusions bear out the others, the evidence in favor of Einstein's revolutionary hypothesis will have become overwhelmingly convincing
