Impossible interview

Dorothy Dix versus Peggy Hopkins Joyce

PEGGY: Dear Dorothy Dix. I am twenty-one, pretty, and in love with a young man—

DOROTHY: YOU should never go out with a man unless his "intentions" are honorable, because marriage is worth far more than fur-coats and orchids and jewels—

PEGGY: He wants me to marry him, dear Dorothy Dix.

DOROTHY(embroidering her doily) : A girl must choose her Mate with care. Will he be the jolly type, the "nice" type, the pal, the domestic partner, the Lover? When love blossoms, like a gorgeous flower, into marriage—

PEGGY: Rut T can't marry this young man, my dear.

DOROTHY (sternly) : I am afraid you are interested only in the "flighty" things of life, and that your love is mere "infatuation". Forget about marriage for a while and, sooner or later, the Right Man will come along—

PEGGY: That's just the trouble. Pm married already. In fact, I've been married heaps of times, dear Mrs. Dix.

DOROTHY:Miss Dix, if you please! That "Miss" is why I'm still giving Advice to the Lovelorn—

PEGGY: Well, listen, Dotty, old kid! Anytime you want to get somereal advice ...
