SPOTLIGHT
Hollywood's casting directors are buzzing about Judd Nelson as though he were the next Dustin Hoffman. He's the most versatile of the new young actors, they agree, and the most charismatic. This month, he gets to show off his dazzling range. As a Vietnam-bound frat brat in Fandango, he's tense, ferocious; as the high-school hoodlum in John Hughes's The Breakfast Club, he radiates heavy-lidded cool. Nelson has already finished two other films, Hughes's Weird Science and Joel Schumacher's St Elmo's Fire, but among his friends, acting is not his chief claim to fame. Seems his technique has been wowing pinball fanatics from Burbank to Beverly Hills.
