They mingled on the Grand Promenade of New York's Avery Fisher Hall for a little night music and a lot of free drinks. The event: the I Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Leonard Bernstein, and sponsored by EBEL watchmakers. As "The Architects of Time," they should have known Lenny would be two hours late for the postconcert dinner at MOMA.
Guests included: Madeline Kahn, Isaac Stern, Phyllis Newman, Adolph Green, Kitty Carlisle Hart, Marietta Tree, Baroness von Wechmar, and Lauren Bacall, who came watchless. The coolest duo: Philip Michael Thomas (who refused to applaud during the concert) and Danny Sullivan.
Finally, at three o'clock, everyone looked at their watches (except Bacall— she'd get hers from EBEL later) and climbed back into their limos. It was time to call it a night. —Brooks Peters
