Here comes The Princess Bride
In repose, Cary Elives looks like an empty-headed seraph. But then he smiles: below all that boyish prettiness there lurks a wily imp—and, surprisingly enough, an actor. Elwes has demonstrated his skills in movies like Another Country (1984) and Lady Jane (1986). But now the director Rob Reiner has given him the role of a lifetime, as the swashbuckling Westley in the screen version of William Goldman's fairy-tale spoof, The Princess Bride. It should be a broad and bawdy affair—perfect for an actor whose angelic innocence is only skin-deep.
