Indecently ripped jeans, once a staple in every chic urban beach bum's wardrobe, have now become the preferred attire of the white-fringedboot brigade. Ever since Madonna pronounced the just-bought look a fashion faux pas, trendies have been systematically mutilating their 501s, lending at least some credence to that "I've been surfing/riding pillion/tending ranch in these for ages" rap. But a pair of tanned and waxed kneecaps poking through a kittenhipped mannequin's size 28s is one thing. The sight of billowing alabaster flesh straining through a pair of new stonewashed Jordache Basics is quite another.
