Otto Mobile
A preternaturally serene presence at Europe's most frenzied fashion shows, Milanbased designer publicist Karla Otto brings a crisp air of detachment to a profession dominated by hyperbolic hacks. Her intemational roster of clients— Sybilla, Gaultier, Hamnett, Sitbon, et al.—is a style groupie's dream of dressed-down, contemporary cool. Bom in Bonn, Otto was obsessed with avant-garde Japanese film and at nineteen wound up in Tokyo, following an Asian Wander -jahr. A studies-supporting career as a model then led her to Italy. "Milan is very provincial," says Otto, "but I'm lucky—I work mostly for foreign designers."
