A Club Named Jackie

Club kids run rampant in their wild get ups all over New York, but for the more adult bunch, who have slightly less tolerance, there's only Jackie 60, the legendary Tuesday-night happening in the far reaches of the West Village. Jackie is well past its second year of providing offbeat entertainment to a crowd interested in viewing live performance more than outfits, a set that actually gets references to things other than Home Alone 2. "We get people who haven't gone out since the Mudd Club, " says Chi Chi Valenti, one of Jackie's key presenters. The Jackie sensibility that these dazzling dinosaurs share, as Valenti explains it, is "close to something like John Waters. We like to put that little twist on everything."
