Vanities /The Gallery

In a world overloaded with information, the Tank a Guichets strips timekeeping down to the essentials. Cartier debuted the style in 1928, nine years after its original Tank watch went into production, to offer concision in a newly bustling era of train and car travel, when creative innovators from Piet Mondrian to Le Corbusier were finding beauty in simplification. Nearly a century later, this ode features upgraded mechanics as well as jumping hours and dragging minutes but maintains its predecessor's clean lines and Deco vibes. The brushed yellow gold, rose gold, or platinum case obscures what's typically left on display. In the model shown here, a green alligator leather strap and a crown nestled atop a rectangular dial share the secret. Pass it on.
