The well-dressed woman in the south

Riding is popular, even with the spectator, if she wears good-looking and appropriate clothes

■ The girl astride the horse is wearing the informal type of riding habit which consists of buff bedford cord jodhpurs, a yellow turtle neck sweater, a brown tweed coat cut with informal looseness and a brown felt hat: from Abercrombie & Fitch. Her three friends are practically and therefore smartly dressed in country tweeds. The one on the left who is discussing the good points of a hunter with the gentleman is wearing a Chanel black and yellow tweed suit. The blouse is cleverly made of gazelle fur: from Bonwit Teller. The next young spectator is wearing a very smart Chanel coat in chartreuse diagonal tweed, belted high about her waist. The large cape collar is an interesting note: from De Pinna. The girl on the right has on a Schiaparelli suit of mixed blue, yellow and grey knitted jersey. The blouse, tucked in at the waist, is of a plain grey knitted material, and a blue and yellow silk scarf is worn about her neck: from Saks-Fifth Avenue
