Garbo and Dietrich—the Northern lights
The composite photograph above, ingeniously constructed by superimposing two separate pictures, shows us those rival Nordic deities of Hollywood, Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo. Miss Dietrich's last cinematic impersonation was that of Catherine the Great in The Scarlet Empress, riding rampant over Russia. The subject of her next epic still lies in the laps of the gods and Mr. von Sternberg. As for Miss Garbo, recently seen in the title role of Queen Christina, two new pictures are slated for her further deification: The Painted Veil, from W. Somerset Maugham's novel, and The Shining Hour, the Broadway stage hit by Keith Winter. On the opposite page is an article about these two stars
