Arena

In the spirit of its award-winning designer, Neville Brody, Arena pays as much attention to Jean-Paul Gaultier as to Grand Prix auto racing and Gene Hackman. This new magazine for men, published by the creators of Britain's terribly trendy (and very successful) style journal The Face, turns even the most traditional male pursuits—drink, cars, and sports—into invincible fashion symbols.

Started by veteran journalist and Face publisher Nick Logan, forty, Arena is published bimonthly on a tiny budget and with an even tinier staff of five. While its sales aren't yet so healthy as its parent's (70,000 versus 100,000), the mag seems to be imitating The Face's rapid rise. If nothing else, Arena should permanently dispel the notion that a British man's best friend is his bowler hat and bespoke suit.
