Happily Ever Arf-ter

Even for a celebrated dog handler like William Wegman, there were challenges in creating Cinderella (Hyperion), his first children s book and the first of several weimaranerpopulated fairy tales. Doting humans kept carrying off his puppy extras. It was hard getting the cast to look in different directions. And the artist fretted, briefly, about Fay's dual role as Stepmother and Fairy Godmother ("I knew she could play Evil—she looked like Joan Crawford, it was really quite scarybut I didn't know she could play Benign").
